The sticks on heli versions (most models) have smooth resistance on the throttle stick, where most airplane versions have a ratchet action on the throttle. On some radios, you can flip the ratchet spring over to get the smooth resistance.

This question is w.r.t. the Futaba 9 CAP for helis and airplanes, but I am also interested in other radios as well. I am looking at picking up a radio from another club member, and was told the heli version of the 9 CAP and the airplane version of the 9 CAP are different, program wise, only in that the heli version contains both heli and airplane programs and the airplane version only contains airplane programs. Is this true for us pattern guys who use lots of mixes, expo, flight conditions, etc????
I have not flown a heli, but isn't there also a difference w.r.t. the sticks?
