There was never a requirement to roll the same way, and I would argue that
the presentation quality was all but equal when the maneuver is flown well.
It¹s a very pretty routine when you nail it...especially in a tough wind.
BUT...as someone pointed out, there is NOT a requirement to stall the same
way (into the line of flight) but THAT is where there is a huge
³presentation² hit. Stall backwards...or against the direction of flight
really changes the look and flow of the maneuver in a negative way. Also,
when there is a head wind, one can easily argue that the stall backwards
(with the wind) is a downgradeable stall as it¹ll likely be more of a
wingover.
You only have to see this done correctly once to realize what a 10 should
look like. It¹s a crisp cool figure, with a million places to go wrong.
