I had a dream I got a new pattern plane the other day. Yes, I really did have a R/C dream. How bad can it be to dream of getting a new bird, setting it up, testing systems, and getting in that nerve racking first flight? Well, first, it was a partial retro-design. Typical trapezoid wings and anhedral stab, but the fuse was more like the classical small cross section shape. Kind of like an Element with the body of an old Python. I don’t remember performing the check out at home, but I got to the field and trees had grown tall and maybe there was a quarter mile of open space in the middle. Hmmm… don’t remember them being that close before. Looked down at the plane and what??? Now it had changed? Even smaller fuse, color was different, and it had counter-rotating props and a canalizer. Hmmm… weird. Looked up and the field was smaller, the trees were almost on top of the flight line and the weather had worsened. Doh! I need to get a flight in quickly. Not sure what I did next, but I carried it out to the flight line and the stabs fell off. I did not attach them? Went to check the controls anyway because maybe I don’t need the stabs. The rudder fell off. What the f… The world started to swirl around me and I woke up! Well, I can’t be sure if I woke up in the dream or from the dream, but then I remembered I had a nice new Invitation in the hobby room with an Etude as the backup plane. Haaaa….. all is OK, just a nightmare. You know sometimes you wake up from a bad dream and you hope your mind can disconnect from the stress of it all? Went back to sleep and I was back in the hobby room. Wait… that new “dream” plane was there! What? Side by side fuselages now??? How the heck am I supposed to do a stall turn???? AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
