[NSRCA-discussion] Please make sure your NSRCA profile e-mail address is up to date!

Scott,

I would assume everyone who is a NSRCA member or who is following this list
is a pretty serious pattern flyer.

Why do we want anyone's opinion that is not an NSRCA member especially on
these topics? Now, growing pattern maybe a different story.

Do we want someone chiming in on our affairs when they have never competed?

Do we want someone's survey who is on RCU, RCG or just an ordinary AMA
member, I think not.

I say don't worry about the few who think every RC pilot should have a voice
in these matters.

Some of your points are correct but somehow you're missing the fact that the
BoD is reaching out to as many as can be reached. The goal here is to have
people sign up on the website, not to be members of the NSRCA, although
preferable, but to have a database of emails so that they can be sent the
survey. You don't have to be a member to sign up on the site. That's the
whole thing. They said they're trying to reach out to all including the
forums but yet that's not good enough. I don't get it.

Scott,

I do understand how hard it is to run an organization.. I'm just saying if
you are wanting to get a true reading of the pattern pilots you need to talk
to them all, not just a select few who are members of a AMA Sig.

All pattern pilots should have a voice from all classes and districts.

This is a sport for some and a hobby for others and you should not have to
fly a dozen flights a week to stay competitive unless your on the
international pattern circuit.

Planes have become to pattern dependant and cost way over the top. How can a
father and son come out and try a pattern contest in sportsman competing
against a $3,000 composite aircraft. This is a major factor as well as the
patterns have become much harder for the average sport flier to jump in and
try pattern. I understand each AMA class is a stepping stone for the next
and masters is the top before FAI. But maybe adopt the KISS system and
patterns.

Some major points I see need help.

So how do you increase pilots to try pattern and keep them?

Patterns and aircraft.. planes these days look like pregnant guppies and or
sharks with all their fins. Again pattern dependant. If that is what is
needed for the few % competing at the international level fine, but not
everything needs to trickle down to the average or above-average pilot.

If patterns did not dictate the planes more kits or ARF's at a reasonable
cost might be available.

In reading all this masters sh!t storm people mentioned patterns had to much
consumption, since when do you design a pattern on power consumption?
Sounds like your catering to the electric guys.

Maybe time to reel in some of the technology in the lower classes and level
out the field and not make it who can throw the most money at it to win.
That KISS system again.

Just a quick .02 cents..

But, please, enjoy the benefits of others' hard work including this list.
Sorry but the amount of complaining how bad the NSRCA is just eats at me.
People work really hard to do the right thing and please the majority. No
matter how hard you try, someone is going to poo-poo your efforts. They make
mistakes just like we all do. At least the effort is being made to get
information from the majority vs. the few that can't stand the NSRCA but
love to tell everyone on the NSRCA list. How about some support?

I've been flying pattern contest for approx 45 years. There were a lot of
contest before NSRCA came into being.

Pattern flying doesn't exist because of NSRCA.

If you are not an NSRCA member because you are trying to make a statement
about the current state of affairs I understand that; otherwise, if you fly
at pattern contest on a regular basis and are not a NSRCA member then shame
on you!!

You are benefiting from all the hard work of other volunteers.

Without the NSRCA pattern contests would not exist.

That is like getting health insurance without paying for it or expecting the
AMA to fight the FAA while not being a member.

Again only NSRCA members should get a survey!!

Since when the He!! do you have to belong to NSRCA to fly pattern??? I bet
there are many who don't belong to Nsrca or follow the list who fly pattern
on a regular basis.

This is why the membership is crashing..

I think the survey should be directed at NSRCA members, I could care less
what the part time Pattern guy thinks. Making it available to those that
have a desire to provide input is fine and Peter has said he will do that,
Hang in there Peter!!! It's a thankless job but I thank you for all your
hard work and passion for the hobbie.

We do own the sequences as per the AMA rulebook.
With a short timeframe it is better to poll the NSRCA membership than to say
we must poll the AMA membership. How would you ever determine the AMA
members interested in pattern? From the little boxes on the AMA membership
application? Good luck.

Also, dropping your membership because you are fed up with this list is BS.
You don't even have to be an NSRCA member to join this list.

The survey is useless unless it is available to all "AMA" members who

We'll be sending the sequence survey to the e-mail addresses registered in
your user profiles. Your responses will be anonymous, but we can track who
did/did not take the survey, this will help us to understand when we have a
statistically meaningful set of responses.
