The Throttle-Tech works very well as a quasi motor battery voltage regulator. Lower mAh consumption per flight is a side benefit and will depend upon how the throttle was managed before installing the T-T. Here’s a link to a general explanation: http://www.ckaero.net/blog/2014/02/28/tech-aero-designs-throttle-tech/

The relevant setting is the “Throttle Leveling Configuration” in the Flexlink Users Manual. The “Minimum Volts/Cell” has been changed to “% Compensation” in the current software and is really the only thing that most will adjust. The default setting works well for Castle ESC’s, raising the number to 40-45% will work best for Hacker / Jeti ESC’s. (Ideally the setting should provide for compensation that diminishes during the flight to none at the end of the sequence.) Simply experimenting with the compensation % until power is too low – then raising it 5% or so works also.

I am glad to see others talk about the Throttle-Tech. I have had one for more than a month, but had never seen one in anyone else’s airplane until a contest in Andersonville, GA a couple of weeks ago.

Mine ran right out of the box and I was glad, because the instructions for resetting parameters goes on for 15 pages!

I must admit that I haven’t seen outstanding results, but that might be because I haven’t put my airplane in conditions where the Throttle-Tech’s presence will pay off. However that will probably change, since we are getting into HOT weather here and will be using more mah in a flight than in the cool weather.

I’ll report any significant results and hope that others will as well.

  Hi Don,

If you go the camping route....be careful with the bears.....Throttle Tech is a tasty little device :).

Most are running it stock out of the box. Have you adjusted any of the parameters?

Does anyone want to split a hotel room Saturday night with Joseph and I? The we'll tell you our latest trimming techniques for both single prop and contra setup with one of those Ed Alt gadgets. Otherwise we'll bring a tent, roast some marshmallows and sleep with the bears.

  See ya,

  Don
