Agree, the video is good, as is the group discussion. It always raises questions, (some of them valid <VBG>) and provides opportunity to clarify.
Certainly desirable (maybe should be a requirement?) to see video, and participate in a group session for initial certifcation.

Great idea to have the video online. Lots of good info in it and anyone who stays awake through the entire thing automatically passes! Not sure what copyright issues that presents.
I also miss the group discussion. Lots of good ideas passed around while sitting around the table focused on judging.

Last night I attended a club meeting where about 6 members (new pattern flyers) were inquiring about judging certification.
As a result, I just checked out the judging certification material on-line for the first time.
It appears the certification video is not part of the downloadable materials.
Is that correct?
In my opinion the video is one of the most important parts of getting certified.
So if I’m a new pattern flyer I can get certified without ever watching a video or attending a certification class?
In my opinion the video should be available to view online (if it isn’t already) and everyone (especially new judges) should be required to attend a seminar to get certified.
I’ve attended about 4 certification classes in the past and I always benefited from the judging seminar.
Is D4 planning a certification test this spring?
My 2 cents.
