[NSRCA-discussion] Special AMA District III Vice President Election

This may not be an appropriate forum for this, but I think it's critical to the NSRCA and to the AMA in general so I'm going to broach etiquette...

Below is a note from Mark Radcliff, current NSRCA Member, 4 time USA Team member, and current Masters class competitor. He is currently the AMA District 3 VP as an appointment from Bob Brown when he was elected AMA President. There is a special AMA election for District 3 to elect the next term VP and Mark would like to keep the position.

The more I'm involved with the AMA the more I realize it's CRITICAL to have ACTIVE FLYING VP's. Many are not. Many have had long tenures within the AMA and no longer represent the interests of an active modeler, much less a competitive one. Mark's resume in pattern stands by itself for our purposes, but he's proven to be a great spokes person for the hobby as a whole.

The voter turn out for these elections is VERY low...so every single vote counts. The total vote count will be in the hundreds...not thousands. Please, if you're in AMA District 3, please take the time to vote for this and please consider Mark as your choice.

Thanks,

Mark (different Mark :) )

Subject: Special AMA District III Vice President Election

My Fellow Modelers,
In the next few weeks you will receive your AMA membership renewal in the mail. Enclosed with this renewal will be a special election ballot for you to vote for your District III Vice President. As you may recall, I was appointed the District III Vice President, until a special election could be held, to fill the term of Bob Brown when he was elected president of AMA and could not hold both offices. I am asking for your vote to allow me to continue to represent you in our district. Since beginning this position in January 2012, I have attended all the AMA executive council meetings to date. I feel like I am beginning to understand the important business of AMA. I have been on a district tour all summer and have been visiting and flying with modelers and clubs all over OH, PA, and of course my state of WV. I have renewed many acquaintances and met many new modelers. I am always willing to talk about and listen to your concerns of the AMA and the future of model aviation. One thing is for sure and that is I will not only represent you at the AMA headquarters in Muncie, IN, but I will also be representing you at your club’s flying events. I love model aviation and I want to help the AMA remain strong and represent modelers in the future. I have attached my campaign statement that appears on the AMA web site and will also be in the next issue of Model Aviation. Please take a moment to read my statement and consider all your options. Most importantly, please vote in this important special election.
Thank you and I look forward to flying with you and your club in the future.
Mark
