[NSRCA-discussion] Retracts?

I can only speak for myself.
When I entered pattern most kits were setup for tricycle gear retracts and I
used them, (locked down in Novice) through expert even though they were a
pain at times. I found I could skid an Arrow down the asphalt three times
before adding more wood.
When turnaround was offered in pattern it was time for a different airplane
and I preferred conventional landing gear. Yes I could have continued to use
retracts but I felt it was detrimental to have an open wheel well in the
front part of the wing.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Retracts?
Hi All,
Long time lurker on this message board. Wanted to ask why modern pattern
planes don't have retracts? There's
no doubt a good reason that no one uses them anymore. Just curious why...I
like the looks of a plane with the
gear tucked away.
Thanks in advance for any replies,
Mark
