[NSRCA-discussion] Cleaning up a burr

Mike,

If you can see the nick, that's probably the problem. I'd suggest some sort
of grinding stone that's smaller than the bore so you don't alter the rest
of the bore. BY HAND (no Dremel), you should be able to smooth out the nick.
I'd go just a few strokes at a time followed by a cleaning, followed by
inserting the follower (lifter) to see if you got out the nick. The cleaning
is important so you don't scratch the bore or lifter with the grit from
grinding.

The parts list calls the part a cam follower, but it is the same part number
LH/RH. I can see what looks like a nick right at the end of the bore, so I
am assume that is preventing me from putting it all the way down. I will
call Richard at YS and see what he says..... but just in case, anyone have
a spare 160DZ case?

Mike,

I read that there is some uncertainty if there is indeed a burr inside? If
there is...a tricky one indeed, as you would have to somehow get inside the
cam chamber to remove it....hmmmmm. Is it the intake lifter or exhaust?

Have you checked that the correct lifter is in the correct bore? Dumb
question I know, but you don't want to run lifters swapped.

No real answer for you yet-sorry!

Tom

While assembling a YS160, I found a lifter would not seat properly. Right
at the edge where the lifter bore meets the crank bore there must be a
little burr. How can I get this cleaned up yet still maintain the tight
tolerance in the bore for the lifter?
