 Well stated Matt. Although I do have to say that the most balistic and powerful plane I saw at the Nats was Bobby Satalino's Beryl with a non CDI YS 170. Next in performance was anything with a Neu like Dave Lockhart. 
 E. has many options that deliver the mail. Still a good YS is viable. Mike

I took a 3 minute flight on Dave Lockhart's Bravo several weeks ago...it was my first on a full blown electric. And it was enough to convince me that wet powered systems are behind. 
 
The Electric Bravo is superior in its powerplant than practically every wet set-up I've seen. (That's not necessarily true of all electrics but Dave's set-up is something else...like cheating)
 
It's gonna be expensive but if one wants to be really serious about pattern, electric power has got to be in your future. And no, it has nothing to do with judging in my opinion. Electric just makes power delivery (of the type we demand in pattern), easy.
