Spray it inside the cylinder to coat the internals. It is probably a bit extreme for the Honda. Yes, just pull the starter cord to turn the engine over.
 
The main thing is to get the fuel out of the carb, it can dry out, create a varnish, and clog things up. Some engines are more susceptible than others, and I don't have any experience with the Honda. I have a really old Homelite that I have to remove the carb and clean it every couple of years, the jet gradually varnishes up over time, and I have to run it with the choke partially closed when that happens. OTOH, I have a Coleman generator with a Tecumseh engine that I have never had to do anything (other than buy earplugs every season - that sucker will wake the dead).
 
When I had my old motorhome, I discovered (the hard way) that the built-in generator needed to be run every month. Once I started doing that, I never had another problem with it.
