[NSRCA-discussion] YS DZ Fuel from a dealer's view.

Ok. Since we started talking about fuel, I will chime in as a dealer/retailer/wholesaler.  "Flame suit ON"

I gave up making much $ on selling fuel from the start.  I've been watching the fuel prices since last November and I've been out of a few blend of fuels.

Price coming down at manufacturer doesn't necessarily means our (dealer or end user) fuel prices will drop anytime soon.  Nobody knows what will happen.

So far, only two major distributors (GP & Horizon) sells fuels to dealers.  Last July, Morgan told me to deal with either of them as they were not doing dealer direct.  Horizon increased prices in June, GP in July.  I was luck enough or had a best sales rep available to acquire 45 cases of CP30% in July.

I don't see any price changes at either distributors especially on CP30H.  I actually see higher price than my last July's price right now.
One reason that I can think of?  They already got lots of fuels at higher prices sometime last fall.   Unless fuel manufacturers let GP/Horizon to lower the prices and the manufacturers cover the lose if any exists, we don't have better pricing.  GP/Horizon won't order fuels until necessary.

Dealers won't see any lower prices that have been mentioned here until either of above happens.

Byron fuels have lowered a little since December, but they are doing direct dealer only, so the price changes at least two or three times a year.  Last year had total of 4 or 5 changes.

I don't stock Power Master fuels. Only take order to get them.  Personally used a few cans and didn't like it.
Did you know PM is the only fuel manufacturer selling upto 60% nitro although it is for boat/racing?  It is less than $10 more than their 30% Heli LV fuel.
I don't think nitro % affect the fuel price too much.  Why did the fuel price went up?  No clue!

That said.  I don't mind fuel manufacturers selling fuels at large shows.  It may do good to those who are closer or who can drive there for fuel.
However, selling at lower than wholesale or dealer pricing will definitely cause something.  It did before and will happen again.

If all manufacturers do the above?  YES, we can get better pricing!!

CDI fuel has not been added to any distributor's list.  Horizon doesn't show any CDI info yet.  Anyone know if there is other YS engine importer exist?

Well, better get back to work.

Troy,

Not saying this from an E perspective, but from someone who is interested in the new Dz's, does this mean that glow prices are going to come back down? I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering.

Thanks!

John,

I spoke to Morgan Fuels last week. They are getting nitro
 again, and

have been for a little while. Things are about back to normal. I would

venture to say that is the case for the all fuel companies.

How is the 787 doing, you about retired again?  I have one of my

contractors that is doing the Alb to Phx commute and he is about fed up

with it. Hope you can get some more flying in. I looking forward to

doing some flying myself.

I would like to hear what everyone is doing about the fuel issue for

running DZ engines this year. Prices, fuel brand, less nitro etc.

John
