You know...
The P-51 Mustang had many inovations...
The laminar flow wing airfoil, the radiator scoop that due to the air expanding from being heated as it passed thru was actually a net gain in thrust.  Something else
they did that seems so obvious now is they angled the exhaust stacks rearward.  The directed gases actually created slight thrust as well.
Maybe you guys are on to something with this smoke and flames coming from your electrics.  How 'bout at the Nats you set your plane on fire when you take off?

And letting the smoke and flames out is loosing energy.. You must find a way to keep this in the motor.. Makes for great uplines..
