I believe that the method of determining the team placing changes with the '09 WC.
"The team classification is established at the end of the competition (after the finals) by adding the numerical final placing of the three team members of each nation. Teams are ranked from the lowest numerical scores to the highest, with complete three-competitor teams, ahead of two-competitor teams, which in turn are ranked ahead of one-competitor teams. In case of a tie, the best individual placing decides the team ranking."

Took a quick look at the P09 schedule and, at first glance, laughed at the simplicity. It dawned on me that the WC gets about 100+ contestants, all of whom need processing (read- prelim flying rounds). Then, the simplicity makes perfect sense. But did they go a little overboard in dumbing it down?? The team award is still awarded after the P is done so it probably brings a bunch of teams into it who otherwise would not be. It will be interesting to see what develops in two years, particularly Judging and Scoring simple patterns.
F schedule is a different issue

5:00am and we just got home....
FAI....well...it was the best of patterns, it was the worst of patterns....LOL
I'll just say it's a lot more difficult than it looks on paper. A lot of guys had some really great looking stuff, but nobody had the pattern nailed yet. it flows VERY nice and the really cool thing...even judging 10 pilots wasn't too bad! Because of the way they shortened them up, it was about like judging intermediate as far as time goes. The crosswinds were brutal and the box was an issue. The spin on the end of the box was an issue as well for some. But it was great to see such a turnout to get on with the new stuff!
Speaking of intermediate....Gary and Jon had the battle of the contest. In the end Gary won by....get this.....3/ 10ths of a point!!!!!!!!!!!
Great contest, thanks to Jon and the D6 guys for the hospitality!
