I'm going to try 9252...good torque, speed, not as heavy as the 9154s, nylon gears and not a bad price. ( Getting even better here in Canada)

Performance wise in Futaba I LOVE The 9151s, but I am not really in love with the weight, although it's not too bad. The 9154s are even heavier. The 9550s showed some promise but the metal gears are not ideal with a 4 stroke.

At the end of the day I am still sort of clinging to the 9151s. Is there a better option? (lighter, same performance, nylon gears?) Andrew mentioned some he was using and I can't remember which one?

Pete... how are you using DEPS on the ailerons? ;)

Having flown the same design, 1 plane with 9650's on ailerons and the other with 9151's, I can say that for FAI, at least the 05 stuff, the 9650 was not equal to the 9151 in performance. I noticed a difference in some of the rolls, and all of the snaps. Ailerons are just too large on the 2M planes for the mid sized servos.

Now for the elevators, they are perfect (if not using the DEPS).

Jason

Are telling me I should use a DEPS system instead of my 9650s in my two V2s?

  My opinion:

Might be ok for electric, it's probably borderline for a 4 stroke. Those servos have some slop in them when they're brand new, and they get bad fast. They work very well for elevator and throttle servos, but the elevator usage you have to replace the gears pretty often. It's not too difficult and the gears are cheap.

As for ailerons....well, I still like the JR 9411SA the best. Trouble is they're always out of stock!

Does anyone have any experience with the Futaba s9650 servos on ailerons?? The specs look good, .11 sec. / 62.5 oz./in. @6.0v and only .9 oz. for $50. I'm a die hard JR servo fan but like I said, the spec and price look pretty good.
