[NSRCA-discussion] Paint from a can?

You are right about that, but, IC engines should be outlawed anyway. Be careful what you fly thru with the Dupli-Color <G>. From what you say I assume Lustrecoat has some nitro tolerence.

The Dupli-Color paint from NAPA autoparts is the same manufacturer as Century 21 from Coverite. They have four colors ( or more) of Dupli-Color primer. The nozzles work excellently

      Jim,

Art Wagner and myself use Lustercoat to paint with. Art did an article in one of the K-Factor...cant remember which one at the moment.

Warming the cans in hot water or with a hair dryer is really needed. Keep a supply of nozzles handy soaking in acetone and change them frequently to avoid splattering from partial clogging. Make sure your finger tip does not over lap the top of the nozzle. I have found the over spray can drip off your finger tip into the air stream and make a blob in the spray area. Art says the new cans of paint seem to be better formulated and have a better spray nozzle. So be careful of old stock.
I use the Lustercoat white primer. Century 21 white for base coat or Lustercote. Century 21 has the best nozzle on spray can that I have found to date. Its just hard to match some of the colors to Monocoat. You can color sand Lustercoat and Century 21 and hand polish the sheen back and not have to clearcoat. Or use PPG clearcoat for a no maintenance type finish.

      Hope this helps.

        Hi Guys,

I researched the archives but could not find the threads where someone was (I think) describing a paint job from Lustercote, where they warmed the cans prior to painting and the results turned out very good. Could someone please point me to that thread?

        Thanks,

        Jim W.
