Gene,
I personally like pull-pull elevator and used to really struggle with the 
installation, but after seeing a friend of mine do his I learned a trick 
that makes things so easy that I now find doing the rudder much more 
difficult than the elevator.
If interested e-mail me off list to see if my way differs from what you're 
already doing. If not, that's O.K. too.
