George,

I do believe that the AMA points represented in the spread sheet are for the
current year only. For this to be accurate you would need to know the prior
4 years data for every competitor.

Jerry,

Same question; does your data go back 4 years and does it include all
contests a competitor may have attended, i.e. out of district, NATS, etc.?

The converse is that "a particular does not make it universal". I still
contend that for any statistically based system to work there must be a
central point that can collect and analyze the data with assurance that it
is receiving all of the required input. Any gap in the data collection makes
the statistics unreliable. GI-GO

As has been stated by many, the point system has been made moot because the
vast majority move up BEFORE they point out.

The POINT I was trying to make about the POINT system is that it's
POINTless.

Gene,

If you check the District 6 website and look at the District championship
standings, the spreadsheet includes District Point and AMA point totals for
all participants.

Gene, I respectfully disagree. We keep a running count from all contests

in

our District, and anyone can check and see where they are. Old rule" you

No one collects, maintains, manages, administers, accumulates, records,
summarizes, folds, spindles, or mutilates points! PERIOD! The rule, as
stated in the AMA Rulebook, is not only unenforced, it's

unenforceable!!!

At the end of a contest CD's send data to the AMA. These forms include
data
about the contestants including the results of the contest. As of today,

the
AMA does nothing to accumulate that data, per Lisa Johnson,

Administrative

Assistant in the AMA Competition Department. No one in the world can

tell

you how many points you have.

The whole system, as it stands today, is an honor system. It is the
competitor's sole responsibility to know how many points he has.

This in itself seems to be a strong argument for abolishing the rule.

BTW, IMHO, any other scenario that utilizes the accumulation of

statistics

to determine advancement is equally unenforceable.

Just a thought........................
