[NSRCA-discussion] Hacker ESC programming

Thanks Verne and Earl. I was wondering if there was a sig difference
between settings. Funny as I switched to log setting on the comp motor but
never felt I had to on the standard version.

Thanks

Stuart

Same settings as Verne.

I measured V / A / rpm @ each different timing setting on my test stand
using the Eagle Tree data logger / sensors. At least with the C50-14 Comp
motor (21x14 prop), I observed no significant difference in max A (+-1.5) /
rpm (+-15) @ same volts (+-0.0) between several measurements with timing @ 0
- 3 - 5 in varied order. There could be temp differences (didn't measure),
but likely small given A are similar. So - 3 deg timing seems a reasonable
setting.

Logarithmical throttle response is much smoother than the others -
especially noticeable with higher C batts.

Earl

C50 14XL Comp and Comp controller, TP 5300 batteries, APC 20.5 X 14, drawing
65 amps at full power

Timing is 3 (that's where Andrew and Jason told me to set it)

Acceleration is soft (only affects from dead start)

Throttle curve is logarithmical with my radio (14MZ) set to -26 expo 2
(personal preference from experimenting)

Don't remember where my cutoff is, I seem to recall 3 volts per cell but I'm
never anywhere near it anyway.

Hope this helps

Verne

OK it's a little quiet and I really do not understand some of the setting
available in the Hacker ESC programmer.

I have both the standard C50 14 XL and the comp version. I assume that
these settings are similar for other ESC's as well.

Timing: 0-5 recommended for Hacker but what is optimal and what does
changing it actually do :-)

Acceleration: What setting is everyone using? Does this setting only
affect a start from being stopped, or at all times?

Throttle curve: Is anyone using expo or logarithmical?

What cut off voltage is appropriate for our current draw?

I assume most people would use slow down at the cut off voltage and not
instant stop.

Thanks,

Stuart
