Very good Dave...you can email the video to me. You did have your Dad 
video the manuever right?

I have never flown an 8 point roll, but it must be some what difficult. 
The Thunderbirds F-16 does a near perfect 4 point roll-you cannot even see 
 a slight nose tilt up, but when they did the 8 point roll I had to 
give'em a 2 point downgrade for "flying the hump" instead of a straight 
line....Don Ramsey would have downgraded 2.5 points.....

I accept.  And done.  Flew it last night.  Time on points is short, roll 
rate is a bit quick for pattern, but not too unlike what I see some 
Intermediates using for 2 rolls.  Certainly no more difficult than the 
current 8 point roll in PO7.
 
It does look cool, but there is not much time to add style and flair if 
you keep it in the box.

Nah…he had it right. You reverse roll direction each time. ¾ right, 
5/4 left, ¾ right, 5/4 left…or the opposite. It’s a cool 
maneuver…just not sure there’s enough box…

3/4 + 5/4 = 8/4 =2 which would be upright, not inverted...  3/4 + 3/4 
would be 6/4 = 1.5 which is inverted... so it probably was 3/4 of a roll 
for each point.

I just went to the Fort Worth airshow and I saw a maneuver that is so cool 
that some class above me needs to adopt it. 
I am going to try to remember how it went.....it is a 4 point roll 


from straight flight 

3/4 roll right to knife edge (belly of the plane) 
5/4 roll left to inverted 
3/4 roll right to knife edge (top of the plane) 
5/4 roll to upright. 

Anyone ever see this and does it have a name. I may have gotten it 
slightly wrong, as it took me by surprise. It was Frank Ryder and the 
Oreck vacuum cleaner powered! plane- Cyclone.
