[NSRCA-discussion] control horns

I never use the stand offs. Creates to much offset and potential for twisting. Use a small washer to keep the ball from cutting into the horn.

  Scott,
On a foam sheeted wing do you think a balsa block should be buried under the skins for the slot?

Your ball link connection doesn't look like it uses the conical standoff. Do you have a detail shot of this? I'm concerned with wear on a CF/wood sandwich and am curious how you solved this.

  Thanks,
  --Lance

I've used 3/32 aircraft ply laminated with CF epoxied into a 1/8" slot. Shape as needed to get it over the hinge line.

cause that was back on the Jekyll and the wing was only 3/4" thick. It was easy to get it centered on the hinge line. I think the new wing thickness is double that so I might need a bit more reach forward.

If a bolt and aileron horn works well, why change it?

              Hi all,

What are you guys using for control horns on your planes? Last things I used
were a 6/32 bolt and "aileron horns" with a clevis. Is that still the way to
do it or is there something better. Not interested in the MK BB stuff, too
              "good" for me.

              Thanks,
