Amen to that - pattern types will definitely use batts more. On the other 
hand - the batts will likely be used more carefully. The sport guys often 
run batts until they're smoking dead on each flight - the question most 
often ask of my E pattern set-up is "how long can you fly?"- of course my 
answer is "long enough". I suspect most pattern folks pay attention to max 
current, temps, discharge level, balance, and use better chargers - the 
price of this stuff demands care.
