I have about 38 flight on the new electric Smaracea (smaragd wings and stab and Panacea fuse) Hacker C50-14XL, Jeti 90 controller, TP 10s 5300, made my third flight today in about 13 MPH winds for some reason I felt I was losing power starting at the 1/2 hourglass ( P-07) so on landing ran the throttle trim back to center to stop motor as usual and for some reason I went up front to spin the prop man it's tight, just regreased with new grease 6 flights ago, dejected to say the least that something was wrong, carried it back to the flight stands unplugged big batteries and receiver battery, went back up front to spin the prop again, smooth as silk, well crap whats this, Denny my flying buddy said could it be programming, Duh we have brake active, plugged everything back in included watt'sup meter and ran throttle trim up took meter reading and 65.75 amps same as new, brought trim back to center and yes the motor was tight again, the brake works well LOL, hope youall get a good laugh out of this we did.
As side note I'm convinced that if you at contest that fly's every class one round at a time you can get by with one set of batteries for pattern, this has to be done with 2 chargers capable 10 amps and cell balancing, charging at 2c, charging in less that 30 minutes, no cool down after flight (if batteries are not really hot under say 140 degrees F and never fly more than one pattern (P-07) I've tested this and works well, so the expense is much lower than expected, chargers are cheaper than batteries, this will also do other things like better shelf life for batteries, it's been my felling that having to many packs that you can't get enough flights for many years to get full value out of batteries. Using just one set a year will bring cost down to less than buying fuel for most people, I would love to prove this but we fly back to back rounds at our contest so I have to have 2 packs. Would love to hear others comments.
