Not sure of YS engines but most 2-stroke engine pumps have a diaphram made
of teflon coated glass, which is fine with the acetone, but silicone fuel
tubing will be deteriorated, as will any othe silicone part (if any) in
your engine. Viton will resist acetone okay (o-rings). Big problem may be
volatility as acetone will boil at about 40C (note that I converted for
your benefit) which is way lower than the other components in fuel. If
Acetone works and is not damaging your engine seals (use gasoline tubing)
try Methy-ethyl Ketone (MEK), more expensive, much less volatile (one more
carbon in the molecule). Next up the chain is methy-isopropyl Ketone,
which is a difficult product to obtain in the USA at a hardware
store....gotta go to Fisher chemical.

[NSRCA-discussion] Acetone in methanol?
Gentlemen,
You may be aware most of us down here mix our own fuel. We have available
pure Methanol or a methanol product 'Shell A' which has 3% Acetone in it.
I have added 2-3% acetone into my fuel mix ( I buy pure Methanol) and I'm
not sure if I could detect a difference, if any at all. It may have idled
a bit better-but it could have been my imagination??
So my question is-what exactly can/does Acetone do in our fuel mixes??
Does it do anything at all??
Thanks for any insight.
Tom
