Fly foamies indoor a lot this winter--you learn to be more aware of
something coming at you....

I still advocate flying tracks that are inclined slightly to each other (~10
- 20 deg) rather than parallel and possible in the same plane. This way the
possibility of collision is greatly reduced. It would just require two sets
of field markers.

Subject: Re: [NSRCA-discussion] MID AIR COLLISIONS
Being that I was involved and lost a plane with less than 50 flights,
I've been thinking about the mid-airs. If anything, perhaps the extreme
blowing -in condition had a way of compressing the box a bit. Also, it
would have been nice to hear a "pull-up!" I'm not sure it was even
foreseeable though by my caller or I. We certainly were not flying
formation - this was a head-on deal in the lower corner of the right
side of the box. What is funny is that I've flown many days with the
Sunday-Armada reenacting Midway, and no problems.
It also highlights a huge problem with a mid-level finished plane's
availability. There are $479 ARFs available, there are $3000+ ARF's
available, but there are no new/credible $1000'ish ARF's available, on
the shelf somewhere, waiting to be bought. While our options have
increased greatly over the last 2 years, you still need to plan ahead
for these custom babies!!
Thanks,
Jim W.

Even fancier Physics: if both of them are going very, very, very fast,
and possess great energy there is a small
(and I do mean small) probability they can occupy the same spece.

Very simple physics...two objects can not occupy the same space at the
same
time...;-)
