No the glo-plug size is 1/4-32 not 28

You have just pointed out the easy way to square up the head where the glow plug seats. Take a headless 10-32 bolt and screw into the glow openning from the bottom. Use a lock nut if possible. Chuck the bolt in the lathe and cut the glo washer seat. Who do I bill for this ?

Are there end mill bits available with a square central locating shoulder built in? Seems that may be the easiet way to get what Earl suggests. Another two step approach might be to use drill rod that just fits the hole as the locator first, locking the head down in the fixture, then switching to the bit and touching the surface to square.

I hate to bug Clarence with the problem. Since the engine runs well the only real problem is it slobbers on the airplane.

I have a Lathe and Mill in the shop. Set up will be tricky, the plug is pretty deeply recessed. The risk to the threads by using a pilot rod in the hole is high.

I believe I will anneal a plug washer and try a little of the liquid gasket goo. If that don't solve the problem I will just accept the mess.

Assuming that the problem is lack of perpendicularity between the threaded hole and the gasket surface - find a "friend" that will set the thing up in a mill aligned on the threaded hole, then touch the gasket surface with a mill to square. (You might give Clarence a call also - unusual that he would not catch this.)
