I had a similar problem with the snap on the 45 degree downline. I
kept trying different combinations of aileron, elevator and rudder
inputs, but, either I couldn't get a clean snap, or I buried it so
deep in the snap that I couldn't stop it at the right roll angle. In
addition, there was a dramatic pitch change and I couldn't recover it
on the 45 degree downline. My flying buddy, John Fuqua, kept telling
me I needed more elevator input. Finally, after procrastinating a long
time, I decided to give his idea a try and added a LOT of elevator.
Wow! The airplane snapped great. It stayed on the downline and I had
much better control over the bank angle at the exit. But, now I had
too much elevator for flying the rest of the maneuvers, even with 80%
exponential. So, I added a flight condition for the snap and
everything's working great.
