Norm: I have both the PL Products Partner and the Aeroslave Symphony. Both
are excellent designs. I've personally watched an electric Partner fly.
It's an excellent performer and I know it can be built under the 11 lb AMA
weight limit. The Symphony is a relatively new design from Aeroslave and the
first few that have been built are flying very well according to the owners.
It's a bit heavier than the Partner (at least mine is); consequently, I'm not
sure how difficult it will be to build it at/under 11 lbs with the Lithium
Polymer flight batteries installed. Most of the current pattern designs on the
market can be powered by electric motors but weight must be taken into
consideration at every step of the building process. It's also a big advantage to
have a model with a removable canopy/hatch on top of the fuselage for easy
installation and removal of the battery pack.
