Question on Bearing change out

Thanks Dave, Bob.  After I asked the question I went to bocabearing.com and they said basically do them like the factory.  Thanks for your input.

  Michael, I don't know that it makes a difference.  I've run closed rubber seals, metal shields, no shields on my OS 1.60's....SS... have never noticed any difference.  I'd say do what's easy, on the main bearing.
      Front bearings seem to always have a shield/seal on the front side.

    Hi all,
    I have a question about replacing the bearings on my OS 91FX.  I have the motor disassembled and the old bearings out.  I have a new set of bearings, Stainless rear and standard front.  I see on the factory rear bearing both seals are taken off to expose the race.  On the front bearing the rear seal is taken off.  Should I do this with my new bearings?
