Stripped header holes, need advice

When I've really been pressed and I've drilled it out and couldn't get the tap to surface--I cut a couple of slits with a cut-off wheel in a cut-off 8/32 bolt and used it as a tap. Worked OK.

Hi Keith, not trying to contradict Bob, just my thought. I would try drilling and taping it to 8/32 before using the heli-coil. The reason is the hole diameter. Make sure that there is enough material to use a heli-coil, and also keep in mind, once you drill for the heli-coil next will be replacement if anything goes wrong. with the drill and tap you still have one more go at it. I tap an OS to 8/32 no problem.

Subject: Stripped header holes, need advice
I have a Webra 1.45 that has had the threads stripped out of the screw holes that are used to mount the header. I need some advice on the best way to fix this. Drill out and re-tap bigger? Heli-coil? Another solution?
Not really sure what the best solution is. I'd appreciate suggestions if anyone knows what the best approach is.
Thanks,
Keith Black
