Smulators for winter practice

Guys,
Here is a link to some FREE R/C simulator software:
http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html . It's a little bit crude
compared to the commercial offerings but it's adequate for practice when you
can't fly. Let's face it, there's no substitute for the real thing. What's
important to pattern guys is the ability to judge the model's relative
position. You can do this pretty well with this sim (at least I can). I've
tried a few others and usually you need to set up a few viewports etc. I use
the "Fixed Camera" view and it feels like the real deal. The plane doesn't
turn into a spec when you get far a way, and if you fly in close you can
reference the ground. Give it a try - it's FREE. The only thing you need is
an interface cable. If you don't mind a little soldering, you can build one
from the information available on the site like I did. If not, there are low
cost ready-made ones available (links on the FMS site). If anybody has
success with this let me know. I'm working on editing the Formosa from here:
http://gunnerson.homestead.com/files/fms_models.htm to make it more like a
full-size pattern ship.
