December K-Factor

Ron:
I wish I had used my curiosity bump and asked Phil why the AMA had
limited them. But, he was busy, and I was busy, and it didn't come up
again. Roy Barrow did mention it (I believe) when I ran into him at
Muncie, but I still didn't have the presence of mind to ask about it.

I only heard about the limitation before the 2004 Nats', and I just
wonder if it had anything to do with the disaster that was written about
the 2003 Nats'? If one can believe the article in Model Aviation (and I
do believe it), it was pretty bad, with 2 people trying to run the whole
thing. You may remember reading the article. Not having been there, of
course, I can't speak to it, but the article did a good job of outlining
the troubles. It sure wouldn't make you eager to go to the next one
they had. So, possibly it was limited to try to prevent the possibility
of a recurrence. The above is pure, uninformed speculation on my part.
Anyhow, next time I run into either of them, I'll ask about it.
