engine mount

John,

I had over a 100 flights on my Eclipse with the light glassed balsa firewall. I did have to install some 1/8' hard ply washers for the motor mount blind nuts. I had very little vibration transfer from my OS140 engine. My current OS140 eclipse uses 1/8" hard ply firewall. I have a noticable increase in vibration in the fuse. I prefer not to use the stiffer fire wall. By the way, we use a home brew Hyde clone mount. Good luck.

    Hi,

1/8" aircraft ply is plenty strong without any stiffeners in the backside of the FW. The beauty of the Hyde and Hyde style mounts is that there's relatively little energy transferred to the backplate. Most of the energy is absorbed bythe rubber snubber. Good luck
