David,
I won't speak for anyone but my self...
Your response is unwarranted and comes across as a personal attack.
Typically I would respond off the list. However, I know Jeff an he was the
first to offer any assistance to me in getting off on the right foot. There
is no problem with anybody having the opinions he shares. As a matter of
fact, I delayed my pattern career by two years because time with my family
was more important.
I also believe people come and go and then come back due to family related
priorities.
The other thing that bothers me more than the personal attack is the "Thread
Subject" and "Your Response"....Ding, Ding, Ding...
There are newbies that just monitor the list in the background trying to
figure out if they want to join in the fun...How many were turned off in a
thread that some were hoping for information to get them to commit, only to
read someone telling someone else, "If they don't agree with your opinion,
the go to IMAC...".
Your response is a big turn off for me...I can't tell you what to do, but I
feel a wrong has been done to Jeff and the Pattern Community.
Jeff, I respect your opinion and understand your family values. I also
appreciate the time you put in with helping me get started although the
fruits of your help took two years to see. I'm certain that many others
share your opinion and look forward to meeting anyone that can attend a
contest I happen to be at. Even if it's only a couple times a year....
I'm not putting a flame suit on for this one...
See ya,
Larry
