Actually, it was not a glue issue. The problem was that, at that time, PL
was using 1/8" vertical grain BALSA for the outside support for the wing
socket. Keep in mind that this was a retract airplane....
The balsa split and the wing actually ripped off the fuse in flight. The
wing tube and socket were still on the fuse, and were not even damaged in
the crash.
After talking to Quique Somenzini about it, he told me his prebuilt
Excellence was the same way. He told me he caught it after a flight. He
said the wing tips could be moved about 3" up and down at the tips!
Later, he took the wing panels to France and showed PL the problem. They
then changed the manufacturing process and started using plywood...
As this is pre-built into the model when you get it, it's kinda hard to cut
it open to check it out.....
My kit was made during the same production run as Quique's.
