How to install drive washer & retainer for YS 140s?

Sounds to me like the collet and or the drive washer is damaged . The force 
required to push the front bearing into place should be sufficient to seat the 
drive washer on the collet enough that it would not slip . 

That said , let me add that forcing the bearing into position is a practice 
that should be avoided . The side load forces exerted on the balls and races 
can do damage that can greatly reduce bearing performance and life .
