One may also have his engine dialed down some to stay at or below the noise
threshold too. So you could get varying results.

Why don't you measure the RPMS at the same time you take the sound
measurement in the finals? You could get prop, rpm, noise, engine, pipe,
fuel, combos all at once.

I've NEVER been able to get similar rpm's from my engines even when
right out of the box from being repaired.
Same prop & fuel and on a test stand too.

Seriously, I agree. It would be nice to remove some of the variables,
like altitude, temperature, bad memory, BS and hidden agendas and see
just how some of these engines compare.
