The leading edge of the fixed gear was 1-1/2" behind the leading edge of the wing

Michael,

I have a Finesse 2+2 I still fly from time to time. It started out with
retracts and has since been converted to the Bolly's 60 size fixed gear.

The conversion was real simple. I cut open two holes on both sides of the
fuse for the one piece gear set to slip through, then installed (inside
the
fuse) two hardwood wooden blocks on both sides of the pipe tunnel for
mounting the gear set. Finally, as a reinforcement, I installed a pice of
1/8" thick aluminum plate on the flat bottom part of the fuse. The whole
conversion took two evenings to complete. As a matter of fact, I have
converted my Python to a fixed gear also.

Good luck.

How hard would it be to convert an already assembled Finesse 120 from
pneumatic retracts to fixed gear. Looking at the Bolly USA site I see
they
have 60, 140 Lg. and 140 Wide carbon gear. Which gear would be most
suitable? Would I just reinforce the fuse with a 1/4 inch ply at the
first
former? I think doing this would lighten up the aircraft a bit. Thanks
for
all your input.
