OS After Run Rituals

Hi Earl,
Whatever else their shortcomings, a bronze-bushed Fox 35 with a properly lapped in bushing-to-crank fit (not necessarily facory stock!) would run forever and not leak fuel or base compression. The friction is higher, but there is no displacement limit! The engine would even be lighter! A small steel thrust-washer for starter loads will be necessary, but that's simple.

And I worded "ball bearings" carefully to avoid other implications! Couldn't agree more regarding the loads generated by "pinging." The noise one hears is the vibration of the engine parts smacked by the pressure wave from the detonation. Most crank / rod / piston breakage is detonation related, and as you point out, bearing failure. Bushing bearings do work well in automotive engines. Maybe a pressure oil feed, dry sump system.....
