Mark,
I can only speak for myself and the other three pattern pilots in our club. We are located in Southeast Texas and can fly year round for the most part. There are some times that we have to go several weeks due to bad weather, but that happens here in the summer months also. After we attend our last contest in Hot Springs in the first part of October, most of us resort to flying our other planes and don't fly pattern much. Maybe once or twice a month at best do we practice the pattern. We all enjoy the other type of planes also. We pretty much do that until about Feb or March when we start getting serious about practicing the pattern again as our first contest in our area is usually around the middle to the end of April. I would imagine most of the folks that live in year round flying climates are pretty much like us, goof off and build during the off season.
As for fuel, I would guess that I burn in the neighborhood of 50 to 60 gallons a year total. Larry M......
