No, they are easy to set up, but the default setup is for the Plettenberg motor. So if you don't use the Plettenberg, you will need to get their USB interface:
https://www.f3aunlimited.com/d3-motors-usb-interface-programmer
to program the parameters for your motor.
Also, keep in mind that I had to drastically change my throttle curve to smooth/flatten out the mid-range response:

Well, the season is over, boo hoo.  Time to look things over, survey the hangar, and make plans for next year.  Hopefully will have the Excess monoplane done.  Thinking about a different ESC.  Are the D3's hard to set up?
