Feather Merchant has inexpensive power supplies as power supplies go and
they are reliable and good units in 12 or 24v set ups. I had a 2 year old
unit go bad and they replaced it w/ no issue at all. Customer service that
stands behind there products, what a novel idea.

Hey, I need a couple things. Looking for sources, new and used, for a radio
tray and battery charging station.

I have an iCharger 208B and using a deep cycle battery. Will probably get
another charger - iCharger or Cell Pro. Want to add to this with needed
supplies for a charging station that I can plug into generator or ac plug.
Want to be able to charge all my stuff in one place, radio, receiver
battery, motor battery, etc. Nice if I can buy all together as a kit, but
probably more economical to acquire as an itemized list and build myself.

Boy, radio trays are expensive, anyone have a used one to sell with hand
rests?

Karl

Karl,

I have a very nice tray that I got from http://www.rctraymanusa.com. Its
pretty expensive when they are in stock, like $350. You can get other less
expensive trays from esprit models at http://www.espritmodel.com. Also, its
not hard to build one, I had a home made one for a while and Rex has one he
made and has been using for years.

Regarding charging; it is cheaper to "roll your own" setup, that is what I
did. I bought a tool box from home depot and fit all the stuff in, I have
been pretty happy with the setup. I use cell pros and some hobby king
chargers that all run from 12 volts. I have a iota 55 amp 12 volt supply
that has served me well for 5+ years. I do all my charging from this one
tool box full of chargers. There are tons of options and you should just
look at all the different setups guys are using and see what you like the
best.

Karl,

Go on EBay and type in "RC Transmitter tray" and you will find a bunch of
them. I got mine from Ebay as well and it's top notch. Most all of them are
overseas and will take a couple of weeks to arrive, but at a fraction of
what you will pay in the US.

Your mentor Mike will dial you in on charging stations. Mike can get you
going on parallel charging if that's how you want to go.

Progressive RC in Seattle have systems all ready to go, but they aren't
inexpensive.

Don't short change yourself on chargers. Most guys start out too small and
regret it. If you are going to parallel charge I would start out with either
a Power Lab 6 or 8, or an ICharger 306B. Add an inexpensive power supply
from Feathermerchant.com and you will be good to go.

I built my whole system into the large Harbor Freight case with two power
supplies and two chargers. I'll send you an article I wrote that can give
you some ideas.

Hey Karl,
Pretty much the same thing here.? I use two chargers that run on 12 volts
and an Iota 45amp power supply.? For a generator, I use a remanufactured
Champion that I got off ebay, it's a little heavier than the Honda but it's
about?1/3 the price and has been very good.? For chargers, I have an astro
109 and a Bantam IC-6.? Neither charger will pump out huge power, but I can
charge my 2, 5S lipos that I use for a flight pack at 2S.? I'm using a case
that I picked up from a home improvement store.
I'm using a Dubro tray that I got back in the early 90's.? They are a little
expensive, but they last forever.? They can be found used with a? little
searching.

Welcome to the pattern circuit, I enjoyed meeting this last weekend.
