I want to clarify my remarks in the article that I wrote in the July KFactor. Monte Richard's resignation as ED for the NATS was not the reason for the cancellation of the NATS. Monte is one of the pillars in this pattern community. His hard work and dedication to our sport is second to none. Monte was wedged between the AMA and NSRCA. I blame our dilemma on the AMA not making a timely decision concerning the conduct of the NATS. The AMA informed the SIGS, that, if they were not going to participate in their respective NATS, to send a letter to the AMA stating their non-participation by the 24th of June. This was clearly stated on the SIG conference call that was held with the AMA on June 12. A letter by the NSRCA had not been sent when, inexplicably, entrants fees were refunded on June 17. When this action occurred, it was obvious that we could not recover the NATS. This is what killed our NATS. After this, the NSRCA looked for alternate plans to have a NATS. Several venues and locations were researched, including Blytheville, AR, Muncie, IN, and Crowley, LA. Event organizers were contacted by the NSRCA to possibly have the event. With this year being Team Trials, it is important to pick our USA team for the World competition next year, and having this during a rescheduled NATS made sense. The NSRCA contacted the Cajun NATS to possibly have the NATS in October during their NATS and have the Team Trials at the same time. Monte did not solicit the NSRCA...the NSRCA asked him for assistance. This was not clearly stated in my article. However, the NSRCA has found a suitable venue for the Team Trials. They will be during the D4 Championship contest, September 25-27, 2020. They will be in Muncie, IN. Judges from each NSRCA district will be solicited, and we will pick a team. The Pattern Nats were canceled be the AMA only once, on June 15th by vote on the motion to honor the Sig’s withdrawal. My resignation as ED did NOT drive a nail in the coffin. The BOD’s representative deserves that honor, by insisting the AMA cancel the Pattern Nats. 
 
I did not offer to hold the team trials in Crowley at the Cajun Nats. Charlie called me and asked if I would do that. I told him that I wanted it clearly understood that I didn’t offer this, but that the BoD requested it of me. I agreed if they decided this I would, but told him the Blytheville offer would be better.
 
The Chronicle article has many other issues and errors that a simple comparison to the published minutes exposes.
 
If anyone put a nail in the coffin of the Nats, it was the action of the NSRCA representative who attended the Friday AMA phone call prior to the June 15th AMA vote.
