All,
I do not like the idea of rules changes. they take too long to accomplish and would be cumbersome to live with for 2 years if we decide to undo it. I do like the idea of CD's at their discretion allowing the sportsman class to become a more of "run what you broung" class. Allow more folks to get their feet wet.

Personally, I’d think a discussion of this is worthwhile, I tend to think that through Intermediate - for planes that are 6s / 65” wing or less (Such as the 62” Acuity, Tower Kaos, Mytho 50, etc…) might encourage more people to give pattern a whirl. I’m not in favor of it at that 1.8M size. At that size and power, for those classes, this, I think, would result in a competitive edge for those planes vs. 2M planes.

Let’s just go all out and make an unlimited class, no restrictions other than safety. Any aircraft or technology is legal and fly the same schedule and judging

No.
We already allow anything in Sportsman, this can include gyros. But not in intermediate, this is where we learn to fly the plane. We should be judged on our flying capability not our programing capability.
besides carrying a sandwich on board would put us over weight.

On the additional subject of gyros/stabilization use in pattern, we posted a Poll on the D2 facebook page asking:
So, what would you think about a rules change proposal that allowed gyros in Sportsman and Intermediate, for any plane below 1.8M (70.9") span, and length?
The results thus far are:
16 for,
25 against
My comment would be that Intermediate is too competitive for this, and we should/could restrict gyros to Sportsman only in a proposal. Club is not an AMA class, so we can already do anything we want there.
Any other comments?
