This is a perfect time for me to get back up on the soap box I was on 20 years ago.  Get rid of turnaround in the first 2 classes.  When I started in the early 90's. Novice had no turnaround and Intermediate had maneuvers in groups of 3.  I found it to be a huge jump to go toAdvanced with all turnaround.  Doing a sequence totally inside the box takes practice, the one thing that beginners don't want to commit to.  The idea here is to get them to try Pattern with their existing planes or a "sport" pattern plane.  After that, they're either going to stick with it or not.
