[NSRCA-discussion] P-21.14 Comet question for the experts

If the radii are not matched, that is a downgrade.

Longer lines will result in a lower exit, while shorter lines will result in a higher exit.

Some nice drawings are shown on RCU – look at post 5, drawing #1. Assumption is flying at 150 meters to an elevation of 60 degrees on the preceding Figure Z.

https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-pattern-flying-101/11672060-fai-p21-trainwreck-sequence.html

The exit of the Z happens 150’ before center. Assume the plane is going 70 mph (100 feet per second). ½ second of straight and level, and then the 4 point roll happens in 2 seconds….very fast.

Horrible sequence of maneuvers that basically forces the pilot to fly a semi rushed short Z at 175 meters and a semi rushed 4 point roll.

Regards,

Dave

They DO need to be the same length. Altitude adjustment can be accomplished with adjustment of loop radius.

No they don’t. It’s a turn around maneuver that can be used for height adjustment. The power point specifically addresses this question in the downgrades.

This may have been asked already, but do the lines have to be the same length?

Thanks,

Don
