Semi-Finals are over!!! I’m sure by now everyone has seen the scores and outcome so I won’t bore you with all of that.

It was a VERY long day, but well worth it. I’d tell you all how awesome every single member of our team flew, but I think you hopefully know.

Eh, I’ll do it anyway.

Let’s start with Kal, the new 2019, Jr World Champion!!!!! To describe the pressure, the audience, and atmosphere of the semi finals is difficult. I don’t think I’d even be able to fly. 10 judges, 29 competitors watching you, and 81 other pilots that didn’t make it, with all their countrymen and supporters all looking to see who the top guys really are… It’s a lot. Then add the pressure of your team mates, supportive to be sure, but there’s still the pressure to carry your weight. Kal rocked. He lead the Jr competition from the very first round and never looked back, though it was by no means a runaway. The young Italian Alessandro, and Ben from Israel were both equally amazing today, and hats off to ALL the Jr’s that participated. But Kal won the day and we’re all tremendously proud of him.

Brett entered the semi’s in his highest position ever, starting in the top 10. Considering that work forced him to skip the last worlds and continues to limit his time, this was an extraordinary effort. He demonstrated that glow can fly the same measured pace as the electrics, and flew exceedingly well. Admittedly he’s a bit disappointed not having made the finals, but he gave it his all, flew very well, and in the end, helped position the team very well for a potential 5th consecutive world championship.

Joe - Returning 2 time Jr. World Champ! Another phenomenal performance for this young man. You’ll see on the final score sheet, that he missed the finals by 0.9pts! Painful to be sure. Admittedly we were a little surprised as he laid down a final flight in the evening air that was really pretty special to watch. He scored well, and was well positioned coming into the semi’s, but alas, we fell pray to the new normalization methodology, and big rounds from Juan from Spain and Koji from Japan allowed them to jump ahead. Congrats to Juan and Koji, but I dare say this isn’t the last we’ll hear from Joe on the world stage!

Jason’s and Andrew’s story won’t be over until tomorrow. It’s a new contest, no carry overs from the prior days. They both finished the day in typical style, flying the kind of flight that made everyone pay attention, and both scoring almost exactly the same. Tonight they are studying unknowns and writing out call sheets in preparation for tomorrow. I’m attaching the two unknown schedules as well as the flight order for tomorrow. We’re in for another long day, but an exciting one.

Oh! And Kal will the warm up pilot for both unknowns so he’s doing a little studying as well!!

It’s time to sign off and try to get some sleep. Temps will be hot again tomorrow and there has been virtually no wind. Pilots have generally been picking their preferred direction to fly. Wish the guys luck and i’ll try to keep scores updated as best I can.
