[NSRCA-discussion] Equal time for oposing views

Mike,

I want to commend you for the effort that you put out to make the
Blytheville NAT's possible. While the flying sites at Muncie are
outstanding, the flying sites you provided at Blytheville were also second
to none. At the time, I'm pretty sure that not too many of the contestants
expressed their appreciation for your efforts but I want to take this
opportunity to tell you that your work was really, truly appreciated. If
you ever decide to bring the NAT's back to Blytheville, sign me up.

Curt Oberg

I appreciate on behalf of all the volunteers, the advertisers, the donors,
and the great city of Blytheville, Arkansas, the comments by Tim. Thank you
for the apology. I certainly made more than my share of mistakes in this
endeavor but all in all I feel like it was a worthy event. '

Briefly, for almost a year there was hardly a day I wasn't on the phone or
writing someone or meeting with someone regarding the Nats.

There was so much I didn't know. There were many challenges in every facet
of this event. Things were changed for the better and some things didn't
work so well. I am certainly the wiser for all this.

Once again, thanks for the apology.

Regards,

Mike

Well I guess I'll start, with "Guilty as charged!"....I did write a lot
of negative stuff in the KF about the last two NATS, and I think after a
reread, apologies are in order. I'm one of the guys that packs up, shows
up, flies, judges, and goes home. It's unfair for me to criticize the
efforts of those who put out so much more than I do, some guys that I don't
even know are there!

Then, the committee guys who are hoofing it around the sites, trying to
keep everything moving smoothly, while I'm concentrating on the next round.
I'm on the lower sites, so for the past couple of years, Monte has been our
Chief, and done an outstanding job of keeping us happy. Hats off sir. And
Mike gave us a new venue at Blytheville, which I really am looking forward
to returning to, if it's the choice for next year. Nice long horizons and
paved runways. It's a really good site, and Mike gave us a very profitable
event, one worthy of repeating. Al also kept things cool, calm and
collected. I watched a guy literally screaming at him over some judging
issue once, and he stood there and took it all. Peter; all I can say is he
has the fastest car on the planet.

Yes it's not all rainbows and unicorns, but what is? As Monte pointed
out though, my comments were very unbalanced, and there was a lot to look
back favorably on in each NATS. Again, my apologies for any offense
guys....I was a little unfair, and that's clear.

I had a great time at both events! Blytheville was really cool seeing a
B-52 fly over our head. I really enjoyed looking at the old salvage
airframes too. The banquet was a lot of fun.

Of course, I'm a little biased at this year's nats. I can definitely say,
the best ever ;-) That of course has nothing to do with the fact that I won
Masters. FINALLY. LOL

There was a recent article published in the September KFactor that was a
very negative view point of the last 2 National events. I fell that like
opposing political views are awarded equal time, therefore we should show
any positive aspects of the last 2 National events with equal time. Please
submit any positive views of your experiences from either of the last 2
Nationals on this discussion board. While we may not be perfect and have
never held ourselves out as such, the people who volunteered and worked very
hard to put on these events deserve to hear the positive view points,
especially if they are to be belittle publically with any negative views.

I for one enjoyed participating in both the 2017 & 2018 Nationals as a site
director. Despite the challenges of putting on these two events, I feel the
organizers and staff did a remarkable job of trying to make them both as
pleasurable as possible. I totally appreciate the volunteers who traveled so
far from home to show up and work diligently, and tirelessly in the heat
each day to help put on the events. Without them there would probably not be
a Nationals as the cost to hire people to professionally plan and perform
all these duties would be high.

I especially enjoyed the programs at the banquets at both of these
Nationals. I found them entertaining and the food was excellent for a
banquet setting.
