[NSRCA-discussion] Election

I forgot to add, if you can’t make the February 23rd Phoenix contest, you can come and call me an idiot at the Bear Mountain Flyers field on February 9th and 10th. I’ll be running a Pattern Seminar on Saturday the 9th. Agenda will be Trimming, some coaching and hopefully a Judge Certification class. On Sunday, February 10th I’ll be running a 1-day AMA/F3A contest, including the Club Class. So lots of opportunity to let me know I’m an idiot! I do want to stay equal opportunity!

Tony Frackowiak
NSRCA #12

The NSRCA is an elitist association with a bunch of good ole boys running it that are only interested in maintaining the status quo. I’m paraphrasing a bit but that was the gist of it. And I’m not saying I agree with all of that. Probably some of it though. So I wouldn’t be too sure on what you think is the opinion of the Silent Majority.

Can you? But let me give you an example. I was considering throwing my hat in the ring for one of the positions up for election. I contacted my DVP to ask who was currently nominated. I wanted to know because if there was already somebody nominated that I could support I wouldn’t bother running. I was told that they would not release that info until the nominations were closed. Huh?? For the life of me I could not figure that one out. That info was not to be released to an NSRCA member? I decided if they felt that much need to control the elections I really didn’t need to bother.

> We are drawn together, at least I think, because of our love for RC Precision Aerobatics. I don’t think it is because of a love for the NSRCA. In my opinion the NSRCA is only a tool which we can use to improve the activity that we love, RC Aerobatics. From time to time that tool needs to either be modified, or discarded and replaced with a better tool. Not much different then the ongoing evolution of pattern planes. I am never going to walk away from flying and competing in RC Aerobatics because of anything involving the NSRCA. But I am from time to time going to point out what I see as an improper direction the NSRCA might be headed. If that makes me childish to some, then so be it.

We would be better off just shutting this list down than let it continue. I find it disheartening, imagine how a new member who joins the list to gain knowledge and discuss Aerobatics interprets it.

Regardless the mistakes or the consequences, all of these board members, volunteers, helpers, etc. typically do this at their expense of time, money , effort, etc. they don’t have to help, they normally are just giving back so that whatever activity can even exist. Do they make mistakes, of course, lots of them, but they deserve consideration, real respect, and kind responses. Otherwise they go away and the end result is an even worse outcome. I have done my share of volunteering and helping. I have received more than my share of unwarranted abuse from those of differing opinions. It is offensive and oft times without substantial cause.
