[NSRCA-discussion] HXT 4mm connectors

I switched all of mine over to the red HXT 4mm style connectors. Very happy with them. I personally would not use Anderson power poles as I have seen several fail. My father zeroed a round due to one failing prior to takeoff.

The red 4 mm HXT actually go together as easily as any other bullet style connector if you know how to do it as Ron Van Putte described.
I’ve seen Anderson Power poles fail.
It is certainly much easier to solder the red 4 mm HXT than dean connectors.

Thanks all for the online and offline help and advice. I’m undertaking a complete revamping of all my connectors, from deans to HXT 4mm. Major pain in the butt, but I’m tired of deans. Let the soldering begin…

Yeah, I use an opposite connector to help me tap it through the front side as well.

That is how I do it too.
But I use an opposite connector to help me tap it through the front side.
Prevents buggering up the connector and helps get the connector properly seated.

The way you assemble the HXT connectors is to push the wire through the plastic housing, solder the connector on the wire and tap the connector back into the housing by putting the wires down through a vise and drive the connector into place.

I’m looking to convert all of my equipment to the HXT 4mm Bullet connectors (Red housings). Can someone that is using them tell me what the standard convention is for wiring these? It would appear from photos (Hobby king) that the battery side is putting the positive lead on the male bullet (larger housing) and the neg lead on the female bullet (smaller housing). Is that what most are doing? Feels backwards to me, but I want to match conventions so I can buy prewired stuff in the future.
